Haircut and piano recital

Yesterday was a big day for us. First thing in the morning Lizzy decided that she wanted her hair cut. When I asked her why she said because she was tired of her brother pulling it and because she wanted to be able to brush it herself (it's hard when it's so long). So, she got her hair cut yesterday. She really likes it and said she's worried people won't know it's her because she looks so different. I think she looks cute but miss her long "princess" hair (although I would never tell her that.)
On another note...
Lizzy had her first piano recital yesterday. She has taken lessons for 3 months now and really enjoys it. She did well in the recital. She played 2 songs (the young ones play a duet with the teacher, so that's what she did.) They played at the Chapel, so we do not have photo's. Then after all the performances her teacher gave out awards, they were given for performance and attendance and practice, not all children got one. Lizzy got one for excellent performance in March. What that means is that she worked hard to learn all her assigned songs in March. That's it for now. With all the hustle and bustle I did have time to take a photo...

Slip-n-slide fun

It has hit over 100 degrees here. We are hot, thirsty and bored. Lizzy tried out her slip-n-slide with a few friends today. I have a feeling we will be doing this ALL summer!

New Skill

Yesterday Sam figured out how to pull himself up on things. Here's a few photo's of him trying out his new skill. Oh, he will be 8 months next week. This is a fun and busy time with everything new he is learning.

Crawling after Chicken Little

This video is from a few weeks ago, he's cruising even faster now. He loves trying to eat power cords and trying to climb on things.

They love to play

I never thought that with 5 years between them my kids would actually play together. I was wrong. They have so much fun. Samuel will crawl to Lizzy and she will play peek-a-boo with him or tickle him. It is adorable to watch and makes my heart melt every time. It brings me great joy to see the sweet relationship that siblings have with one another. In this picture they were playing "laundry basket jail", although I'm not sure what Sam thought it was. Liz would put the basket over his head then he would look out and laugh then she would take it off of him and he would crawl after her till she put it over his head again.

Fancy Nancy

We love the Fancy Nancy books! If you have a girl, you MUST check them out at the library. It's about a girl that is very fancy and even uses fancy words, her family is not as fancy as she is but that's OK. Lizzy will dress up frequently like Fancy Nancy, wearing a bunch of clothes and hair clips and with scarves around her neck. In Oregon my sister-in-law Kimberly taught me how to make bows for girls hair, which was fun to learn. I made a bunch of bows and Liz told me where to put them on a hat we bought in the dollar spot at Target, now it is truly a "fancy" hat.

Oregon trip

We were in Oregon last week visiting Phil's family. We had a good time and the cousins really enjoyed getting to know one another. Some of the highlights were playing the Wii and the girls beating Daed at boxing. Blowing bubbles on the front lawn with grandma. Riding the carousel at Riverfront park. We also had a few tears, which came about because the energy level was REALLY high and (at least for our girl) parental supervision was low. It was fun though and cold, I couldn't even tell when the sun came up because I still couldn't see it through the clouds.
Here are a few photo's.

Sam Crawling

Sam has started crawling!
He uses one knee and one foot.
He's still pretty slow and not getting very far, but here's a video...
